Long time, no blog! I have been waiting to blog the arrival of springtime, hence the delay! Apologies to all those who follow our blogs regularly.
We're still waiting for the arrival of the Wiltshire spring, indeed the Wylye Valley received a plastering of wet snow as recently as Monday - but the snowdrops, crocuses and catkins are all now in evidence, the hens have started laying eggs again and one of our daughters is looking forward to helping out with lambing in a couple of weeks - so (with the exception of the weather) spring is in the air.
The uncharacteristically harsh winter has brought a fantastic variety of birds to our feeder, including a very handsome lesser spotted woodpecker.
In truth, I think we have had a proper, 'old-fashioned' winter which will have done us no harm at all - we've become somewhat soft after a long sequence of mild winters. Consumption of hearty soups has seen a huge increase this winter!
Easter is just around the corner and our walk along the Worcestershire Way is well subscribed. There are a few places left though....
