Springtime in Wessex!

Yesterday was like the first day of spring; bright sunshine, mild temperature, light breeze - perfect for walking, even in shirt sleeves! It's hard to believe it's still February! Plenty of wildlife around too, these two roe deer were grazing in the middle of the afternoon in a field a few hundred yards from our cottage. There were large flocks of birds up on the ridge, we saw green finch, goldfinch, yellow hammer and siskin. The crocuses are in full bloom in the gardens and on our village green and, of all things to see in February, there were Red Admiral butterflies!

Bookings are now coming in for our Easter walking tour in the South Downs, perhaps the end of the long English winter really is in sight!
