Walking The Thames

The olympic equestrian venue in Greenwich Park
Ian has just returned from leading a walk along a number of stretches of the Thames Path. This particular itinerary was provided as a tailor-made programme for an American operator. The programme was based in Oxford and Richmond. The Oxford hotel was very good and the hotel location on Richmond Hill was splendid, with  great views over the Thames. The walks took in the upper reaches of the river as well as Hampton Court, Kew Gardens, Windsor Great Park, Westminster and Greenwich.

The picture above shows the olympic equestrian arena in Greenwich Park with the Queen's House, the Old Naval College and the skyscrapers of Canary Wharf in the background. Happily the venue is temporary and the path will be returned to its former glory after the games.

The Thames path is proving very popular both as guided and self-guided (both single centre and moving on) options.
