A Hint of Spring

snowdrops in the garden
Happy New Year! We have had a relatively dry fortnight and the rivers have fallen back from their alarmingly high levels. The mild temperatures have encouraged the spring flowers and the snowdrops have opened. The daffodils are through and growing, although some time away from blooming, the evenings are staying light until 5pm and our daughters have returned to university after their Christmas break - spring must be around the corner!

Our garden is teeming with songbirds, we are seeing; greenfinches, goldfinches, chaffinches, blue tits, great tits, coal tits and long-tailed tits. We have robins, sparrows, blackbirds and a bunch of clever thugs - the jackdaws! The birds are pairing up and behaving as though it is spring, but they may well be in for a shock, much colder weather is forecast for the next couple of weeks.

Still bookings are rolling in steadily, our website is updated for 2013 and we're looking forward to some great spring walking.
