Give My Regards To Broadway

Broadway Tower
Walking with a group from Broadway to Chipping Campden today, along the Cotswold Way. The first mile of the walk climbs the steep edge of the Cotswold escarpment. Plenty of view stops on the way up, with clear skies we will see over into the Black Mountains of Wales as well as having views of the Malverns and Shropshire Hills. Our high point is at 1024ft above sea level when we reach Broadway Tower.

Broadway Tower was built in 1799 for Lady Coventry, it is a 'folly'. She had it built to confirm that she could see the top of the hill from her house in Worcester, 22 miles distant. She could. So that's what you did with disposable income in 1799!

William Morris and Edward Burne-Jones once rented the tower as a summer house.

Our walk ends in lovely Chipping Campden, the 'jewel of the Cotswolds', and a chance to look at the magnificent Flemish architecture and visit one of Campden's excellent pubs.
